Message from CACAP's President

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

On behalf of the Canadian Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 45th Annual CACAP Conference in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, from June 6–9, 2026.

This year’s theme, “It Takes a Village: Canadian Collaborations in Child and Youth Psychiatry Care and Research,” reflects the heart of our work. Supporting the mental health of children and youth requires not only clinical excellence, but also strong partnerships across disciplines, communities, and systems of care. This conference brings together clinicians, educators, researchers, trainees, and policymakers from across Canada to share knowledge, foster collaboration, and advance innovation in our field.

Our program highlights the strength of these collective efforts, offering opportunities for learning, dialogue, and meaningful connection. Whether through keynote presentations, workshops, or informal conversations, we hope this gathering will inspire new ideas and strengthen the relationships that sustain our shared mission.

We are especially pleased to host you in St. John’s, a city known for its warmth, rich history, and vibrant culture. We hope you will enjoy both the scientific program and the unique spirit of this remarkable place.

Thank you for your commitment to improving the lives of children, adolescents, and families. I look forward to an engaging and inspiring conference.

Warm regards,

R.Rajeevan
Raj Rasasingham MD.FRCPC.DABPN.FAPA.

Conference Theme and Objectives

The 45th Annual Conference of the Canadian Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CACAP) is more than just a national meeting; it's a call to action. This year's theme is "It Takes a Village: Canadian Collaborations in Child and Youth Psychiatry Care and Research," and will spotlight the power of connection, shared expertise, and collective innovation in addressing the growing mental health challenges faced by children and youth across Canada.

Hosted in the vibrant and welcoming city of St. John's, Newfoundland, the conference brings together a multidisciplinary community of over 250 psychiatrists, family physicians, pediatricians, psychologists, nurses, educators, and other mental health professionals, all united by a common purpose: improving the lives and futures of young people.

Over three days, participants will engage in a rich program of keynote presentations, symposia, workshops, and networking sessions led by leading experts in the field. Topics will explore innovative research, clinical practice, system-level collaboration, and culturally informed approaches to care. Whether you are a clinician, researcher, policymaker, or advocate, this conference offers an unparalleled opportunity to exchange ideas, gain new insights, and strengthen partnerships that drive real-world impact.

As Canada faces an unprecedented youth mental health crisis, the need for collaboration has never been greater. The CACAP Annual Conference provides a platform for shared learning and coordinated action where knowledge meets compassion, and where solutions are built together.

Join us in St. John's, or connect online, to be part of this national movement advancing child and adolescent mental health. Together, we can build stronger systems, healthier communities, and brighter futures for Canada's young people.

At the conclusion of our conference, we expect that participants will be able to:

  • Analyze collaborative care and research models in Canadian child and youth psychiatry, including interprofessional, intersectoral, and community-based partnerships that enhance access and quality of care.
  • Apply shared expertise and evidence-informed innovations to address complex mental health needs of children and youth across diverse populations and care settings in Canada.
