The Canadian ADHD Practice Guidelines, developed by CADDRA Canadian ADHD Resource Alliance, first version published in 2006, remain the most comprehensive and widely used national guidelines for clinicians involved in the diagnosis and management of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) across the lifespan. As the field continues to evolve, driven by advancements in research, pharmacotherapy, diagnostic approaches, and evolving clinical practices, CADDRA is undertaking substantial updates to several key chapters to ensure that clinicians have access to the most current, evidence-based recommendations. In this session, members of the Guidelines Expert Committee will present major updates from the new chapters on assessment and pharmacology. Presenters will share important evidence-based revisions, including expanded guidance for complex or comorbid presentations, and new considerations for marginalized, special and underserved populations. Additionally, the updated assessment chapter introduces updated diagnostic pathways and considerations for both initial evaluation and ongoing monitoring. Changes from the previous 2020 edition will be outlined, along with the clinical rationale behind each update. Delegates will be encouraged to engage with presenters, ask questions, and explore how these guidelines changes may influence and enhance their own clinical practice. At the end of this session, participants will be able to: 1. Identify updated assessment strategies that improve diagnostic accuracy across age groups and improve access care. 2. Describe the latest updates in ADHD pharmacology and their incorporation into CADDRA guidelines, including changes to first-line medications and prescribing considerations. 3. Apply evidence-based recommendations from the updated guidelines to enhance clinical decision-making in everyday practice.
