Biography
In April 2023, I was appointed as an Assistant Professor in Rheumatology and clinician investigator at The Ottawa Hospitals/ OHRI/ UOttawa. I am an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Institute of Inflammation and Ageing, University of Birmingham.
I graduated in Medicine (and intercalated BSc) at the University of Wales College of Medicine. I completed Rheumatology residency in Liverpool and subsequently gained an academic fellowship from the NIHR School for Primary Care Research to undertake a doctoral thesis at Keele University (UK), researching the Health Related Quality of Life in Gout. I am a general rheumatologist with a special interest in auto-inflammatory diseases such as crystal arthritis and Behcets syndrome. My current research is investigating the gout specific US findings in those with Psoriatic arthritis, and it's implications in clinical practice. Other research interests include the management of gout in Chronic kidney disease and the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events upon discontinuation of urate lowering therapy.
