IO / IV Administration Workshop
Clinical Skills Development
This workshop is a hands-on opportunity for you to practice and expand your skills at getting IV and IO access to deliver medications for MAID. It is appropriate for people who have learned IV insertion in the past, but need a refresher. It is helpful for clinicians who work alone or with limited support. It allows clinicians new to this field to practice the clinical skills needed for a smooth MAID procedure.
A pre-learning module with slides and linked videos will be accessible to you upon registration and should be reviewed prior to the session. The workshop will focus on hands-on experience with simulated models, using equipment commonly used in MAID provision, and materials that may be considered in complicated scenarios when access is challenging.
By the end of this program, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate the process for IV and IO insertion to deliver medications for MAID
- Identify the equipment commonly used in MAID provision
- Integrate materials that may be considered in complicated scenarios
