Professional Indigenous Ally Training

This Professional Indigenous Ally Training provides the framework and philosophies that will help non-Indigenous peoples better engage and support Indigenous peoples in Canada. A curriculum focused on the history and rich culture of Indigenous Nations in Canada, the cultural training will transform the people at the workplace, into allies supporting renewed friendships with their Indigenous neighbours. The session creates a safe environment to bridge gaps, foster understanding, and promote healing by educating on the rich history and enduring legacy of Indigenous peoples. The session is intended to empower health professionals to engage respectfully and knowledgeably with Indigenous people and their communities.  Some of the topics to be covered in the session include:

  • History and Culture
  • Truth and Reconciliation Commission
  • Indian Act & Residential Schools

The session will be delivered by Indigenous Treaty Partners, a professional Indigenous consulting firm based in Halifax, that offers a range of services to broaden the knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture and perspectives in Canada.
