Details
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1) Describe ethical issues arising in the practice of Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) in Canada, and relevant values/principles to support ethical reflection and analysis, including respect for autonomy, justice, beneficence, compassion, humility and integrity.
2) Analyze ethically complex MAiD cases by identifying sources of moral uncertainty, value conflicts, professional responsibilities, and systemic issues using a structured ethical framework to support sound clinical judgment.
3) Reflect on strategies to manage moral distress and ethical dilemmas in MAiD practice, including Interprofessional engagement, professional boundaries, peer support and ethics case review.
