By the end of this session participants will be able to: -Identify the knowledge needs of educators to enable them to contribute to the joined-up support for CAYP with OCD and their families. -To apply practical, school-based support principles aligned with evidence-based care, such as reducing accommodation/reassurance, increasing emotional safety and flexibility, and collaborating with families/clinicians. -To explore how to involve key stakeholders (CAYP and their families, clinicians and school staff) in the co-creation of psychoeducational resources for educators to improve their understanding of paediatric OCD.

Biography

Elizabeth Colbert is a PhD Candidate in the School of Education at the University of Sheffield. Her research focuses on improving knowledge and understandings of paediatric obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) among school staff through the development of a co-created psychoeducational resource. Her broader academic interests include paediatric mental health, mental health literacy and stigma, neurodiversity, and participatory approaches to research. Her publications span paediatric OCD and school-based support, mental health language and stigma, and psychoeducational interventions and resources for neurodivergent children and young people. Alongside her doctoral research, she has also contributed to policy-facing work, including the N8 Research Partnership’s report on the SEND assessment and support crisis. She brings additional experience from roles in education, SEND support, family services, and youth support.
