COURSE DESCRIPTION
The University of Ottawa, Office of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and the Department of Psychiatry are proud to present this 1/2-day in-person course at The Ottawa Civic Hospital, Amphitheatre.
The focus of this year’s course is on Evidence Based Stepped Perinatal Mental Health Care, with updates and clinical applications of the new guidelines. In live seminars, you will hear directly from the experts involved in the development of these guidelines. The morning closes with a comprehensive panel of community resource providers to showcase their integral roles in the stepped care model. There will also be the opportunity to ask questions directly to perinatal psychiatry experts.
This course will be of interest to ALL perinatal care providers, including obstetricians, family doctors, psychiatrists, midwives, nurses, doulas, social workers, occupational therapists, psychotherapists, lactation consultants, and learners.
OVERALL LEARNING OBJECTIVES
By the end of this conference, participants should be able to:
- Summarize recommendations of the SOGC Guidelines;
- Identify strategies to integrate these recommendations into their current practice, including Ask-ing Masi for support with guideline uptake;
- Connect prospective and new parents with appropriate community resources and non-pharmacological interventions to support their mental health.
ACCREDITATION
This event is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and approved by the University of Ottawa’s Office of Continuing Professional Development. You may claim a maximum of 3.5 hours (credits are automatically calculated).
