2023 National Skills Day for Family Physicians

Course Description

This highly interactive and practical in-person course is designed to help family physicians develop and refresh a variety of key procedural and communication skills.
Small group sessions at the University of Ottawa Skills and Simulation Centre will allow experts to demonstrate specific skills. Participants will have opportunities to practice skills using models or simulated patients while receiving facilitated instruction and feedback intended to develop skill comfort and confidence.


Overall Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Reflect on previous experience, and their own practice and learning needs and challenge themselves
  • Acquire or refresh skills (psychomotor, clinical, counseling/communication) relevant to family medicine practice
  • Plan to acquire equipment or other tools required to use the skills in their own context

 

Accreditation

This Group Learning program has been certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada and the Ontario Chapter for up to 22.50 Mainpro+ credits. 

 

This event is an Accredited Simulation Activity (Section 3) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and approved by the University of Ottawa’s Office of Continuing Professional Development. You may claim a maximum of 7,50 hours (credits are automatically calculated).

Cancellation Policy
Refunds less $75 administrative charge + HST will be issued in writing by October 20, 2023. No refunds will be issued for cancellations received after that date. All refunds will be processed after the event.

The University of Ottawa, Office of CPD intends to take photographs during this event to reproduce them in educational, news or promotional material, whether in print, electronic or other media. By participating in this course you grant the Office of CPD the right to use your photograph for such purposes. This program will include simulation on animal tissue.
