
Compassion Break - A 6-week offering on self compassion and mindfulness

Dates: Mondays starting February 28, March 7, 14, 21, 28 and April 4, 2022 | From 12:30 p.m. to 12:50 p.m.
Target Audience: All faculty members and learners from the Faculty of Medicine
Facilitator: Dr. Priya Gaba, Assistant Professor, Department of Family Medicine, Leader Mindfulness Curriculum UGME and a Mindfulness Meditation teacher.

Welcome to a 20-minute session, held over the lunch hour every Monday, 12:30 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. starting February 28th as part of a 6-week Compassion Break offered by the Faculty Wellness Program for Faculty and Learners. The session will be a mix of experiential learning and meditation to help evoke self-compassion in our lives.
Learning Objectives:
- Learn to take refuge in the intentions of the heart and anchor to the flow of life.
- Practice tapping into the inner strengths of kindness towards self, acknowledge the areas of feeling stuck in our own preferences and thoughts about how things should be or must be, and the shared nature of our current humanity.
Accreditation:
This event is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and approved by the University of Ottawa’s Office of Continuing Professional Development. You may claim a maximum of 2 hours (credits are automatically calculated). This one-credit-per-hour Group Learning program meets the certification criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been certified by the University of Ottawa’s Office of Continuing Professional Development for up to 2 Mainpro+ credits.
