This course will provide a review of Emergency Neuroradiology. The course will include case-based lectures and comprehensive reviews in the different aspects of emergency neuroradiology, including brain trauma, Non- traumatic brain emergencies, acute stroke imaging and management, other vascular pathologies and emergencies in head and neck.

Dr. Vered Tsehmaister-Abitbul is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Ottawa. She is part of the Neuroradiology Division in the Department of Medical Imaging at The Ottawa Hospital.

Dr. Richard Aviv is the Head of Medical Imaging, The Ottawa Hospital Chair and Full Professor in the Faculty of Medicine and a diagnostic Neuroradiologist in the Department of Medical imaging. After earning his medical degree at the University of Cape Town (South Africa), Dr. Aviv earned an MRCP in Medicine at the Royal College of Physicians (UK), FRCR (Radiology) from the Royal College of Radiologists (UK), FRCPC (Radiology) from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and DABR (Radiology) from the American Board of Radiology (USA). Dr. Aviv completed his fellowship training in Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology at Radcliffe Infirmary (Oxford, UK) and at the University of Toronto. He is the Chair of the Department of Radiology and Head of the Department of Medical Imaging at The Ottawa Hospital. Dr Aviv has published over 180 peer reviewed publications and contributed to several Neuroradiology textbook chapters. Dr Aviv has broad international health care experience and is licensed for practice in Canada, US, Europe and UK.
Research Interests:
Research interests include intracerebral hemorrhage, advanced stroke imaging and MRI biomarkers of cortical integrity in Multiple Sclerosis.
