2026 Update in Gastroenterology for Primary Care

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The University of Ottawa’s Office of Continuing Professional Development (CPD), in collaboration with the Division of Gastroenterology, is pleased to present this comprehensive one-day program tailored for family physicians, nurse practitioners, and other primary health care professionals. The course will focus on practical, evidence-based approaches to the diagnosis and management of common gastrointestinal conditions seen in primary care. Participants will gain up-to-date insights into screening and prevention strategies, new therapeutic options, and emerging trends in gastroenterology. Through engaging presentations and case-based discussions led by leading experts, attendees will leave with enhanced knowledge and tools to improve patient care and clinical decision-making in everyday practice.  

OVERALL LEARNING OBJECTIVES 

By the end of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Describe common GI disorders
  • Choose appropriate diagnostic tests for common GI problems
  • Develop management strategies for gastrointestinal tract disease.

ACCREDITATION

This event is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and approved by the University of Ottawa’s Office of Continuing Professional Development. You may claim a maximum of 5.75 hours (credits are automatically calculated).
 
This one-credit-per-hour Group Learning program meets the certification criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been certified by the University of Ottawa’s Office of Continuing Professional Development for up to 5.75 Mainpro+ credits.
