Course Description:
Essentials for Academic Leadership is a series of 5 workshops aimed at providing clinicians and non-clinicians with tools to successfully lead and manage teams.
Participants will develop an understanding and skills of how to:
- Lead a process rather than manage it
- Manage various types of team members effectively and deal with conflict
- Get the most out of team members and keep them motivated
- Introduce and manage change
Participants will also be apprised of legal implications and emerging trends as it relates to managing team members. Completion of the program will be acknowledged by a certificate in leadership from the Office of Continuing Professional Development.
Please note that a minimum of 12 participants (max. 16) is required in order for the series to move ahead. Deadline to register is January 5, 2022.

Accreditation
This event is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada for 26.75 hours. This program has been reviewed and approved by the University of Ottawa, Office of Continuing Professional Development. This Group Learning program meets the certification criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been certified by the University of Ottawa’s Office of Continuing Professional Development for up to 26.75 Mainpro+ credits.
