Biography
Dr. Hassan Mir (MD, MPH, MHI, FRCPC) is a cardiologist and researcher in the Division of Cardiology at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute (UOHI) and an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Ottawa. His clinical practice includes inpatient and outpatient cardiology, with a special interest in cardiovascular prevention and echocardiography.
Dr Mir serves as Chair of the Ottawa Model for Smoking Cessation and Director of the Hypertension Program at UOHI. He has a strong interest in clinical research related to cardiovascular prevention, smoking & vaping cessation, and digital health. He has published more than 40 peer-reviewed publications.
In the past year, Hassan received The Ottawa Hospital’s Jeff Turnbull Healthcare Advocacy Award, Canadian Cardiovascular Society’s Cardiometabolic Award (2025), and the University of Ottawa’s Early Career Researcher of the Year (2025).
