Dr. Kristel Leung is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology at Queen’s University. She completed her medical training at the University of British Columbia, Internal Medicine residency in Ottawa, and Adult Gastroenterology fellowship in Toronto, followed by advanced clinical and research fellowship training in autoimmune liver disease. She also completed a PhD in Clinical Epidemiology and Health Care Research at the University of Toronto as a CIHR Vanier Canada Graduate Scholar, focusing on epidemiology, disease outcomes, and patient-reported outcomes in autoimmune cholestatic liver diseases.

Her clinical and research interests focus on rare and immune-mediated liver diseases and advancing cirrhosis care through the use of clinical cohorts, healthcare administrative data, and patient-reported outcomes.

Dr. Leung is an active member of the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology Research Committee, CanGIEC, the International PSC Study Group and the Global PBC Study Group.
