Biography
Dr. Arno Kumagai is Professor and Vice Chair for Education, Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto and the F.M. Hill Chair in Humanism Education at Women’s College Hospital, where he has a clinical practice focused on working with individuals with type 1 diabetes. Arno received his BA in Comparative Literature from U.C. Berkeley, and his MD from UCLA. After postgraduate training at UCLA, he joined the University of Michigan Medical School before moving to the University of Toronto in 2016. Arno’s scholarly interests focus on health humanities, humanism, dialogue in learning, and teaching for social justice in medicine. He serves on the editorial board and as an Assistant Editor for Academic Medicine.
