COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Departments of Psychiatry and Obstetrics are excited to welcome you to the 5th annual Ottawa Curriculum for Perinatal Mental Health! This year's course will focus on the impact of traumatic birth experiences and NICU admissions on mothers, fathers, infants, and healthcare providers. In live seminars, you will hear directly from experts in the fields of child psychiatry, perinatal mental health, neonatal care and physician wellness. The expanded course agenda will facilitate interdisciplinary networking and dialogue. The afternoon closes with presentations from a comprehensive panel of community resource providers to showcase their integral roles in supporting new and growing families. This course will be of interest to ALL perinatal and pediatric care providers, including obstetricians, pediatricians, family doctors, psychiatrists, midwives, nurses, doulas, social workers, occupational therapists, psychotherapists, lactation consultants, and learners.
OVERALL LEARNING OBJECTIVES
By the end of this conference, participants should be able to:

Outline strategies to minimize the impact of traumatic deliveries and NICU admissions on perinatal individuals and their healthcare providers;

Identify approaches to optimize the mental health of infants and fathers;

Connect prospective and new parents with appropriate community resources and evidence-based non-pharmacological interventions.
ACCREDITATION
This event is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and approved by the University of Ottawa’s Office of Continuing Professional Development. You may claim a maximum of 6.00 hours (credits are automatically calculated).
This one-credit-per-hour Group Learning program meets the certification criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been certified by the University of Ottawa’s Office of Continuing Professional Development for up to 6.00 Mainpro+ credits.
