By the end of this session, participants should be able to:
1. Define infant mental health and early relational health, including the characteristics of emotionally and developmentally healthy infants.
2. Describe how perinatal risk factors, including parental mental illness, pregnancy complications, traumatic birth experiences, and NICU admissions, can influence infant regulation, attachment, and early neurodevelopment.
3. Apply practical screening and observational strategies that providers can use to assess infant mental health and the caregiver–infant relationship in routine care.
4. Identify and access evidence-informed early interventions, including dyadic therapies and specialized infant mental health services, and learn how to access consultation through programs such as Ask Masi.
