At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1. Describe the elements of a Somatic Symptom and Related Disorder (SSRD) clinical pathway that promote a dual medical and mental health approach, and that emphasize early recognition and patient and family-centered disclosure of the diagnosis.
2. Lead a discussion with patients and their families regarding their SSRD diagnosis utilizing the INFORM model to enhance effective communication and help promote acceptance of the diagnosis.
3. Guide a mental health evaluation to identify the biopsychosocial contributors to the SSRD presentation that can be shared with a patient and their family during the INFORM process.
