Dr. Matt Quinn, University of Ottawa, CNORC 2026 Course Chair
Dr. Matt Quinn is a neuro-ophthalmologist and cataract surgeon at The Ottawa Hospital and the University of Ottawa Eye Institute. He completed ophthalmology residency at Queen’s University in Kingston, and fellowship training in neuro-ophthalmology and adult strabismus in Ottawa. He holds a PhD in neuroimaging. His research interests include population-based epidemiology and big-data research, giant cell arteritis, and improving interdisciplinary care for patients with ophthalmic presentations in the emergency department. Matt is also the Assistant Program Director for the University of Ottawa ophthalmology residency program. Outside of medicine and research, he enjoys photography, cooking, coffee, and spending time with his three children.

Dr. Heather McDonald, University of Ottawa
Heather McDonald is an ophthalmology-trained neuro-ophthalmologist who completed her residency at Western University and neuro-ophthalmology fellowship at the University of Toronto. Her practice includes community neuro-ophthalmology clinics, urgent hospital neuro-ophthalmology clinics, and cataract surgery.

Dr. Lulu Bursztyn, Western University
Lulu Bursztyn is a neuro-ophthalmologist practicing in London Ontario at Western University. She completed medical school at Queen's followed by ophthalmology residency at Western and a fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology at the University of Michigan. She has been in practice in London for the past 11 years and is the current co-program director. Dr. Bursztyn is an active member of the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society, serving as the vice-chair of the membership committee and a long time member of the women in neuro-ophthalmology steering committee. She is also the provincial clinical lead for ophthalmology surgery with Ontario Health. Dr. Bursztyn has research interests in optic disc drusen, idiopathic intracranial hypertension, pituitary tumours and residency education.

Dr. Daniela Toffoli, McGill
Daniela Toffoli completed her medical school training at McGill University and her ophthalmology residency at the University of Montreal. Following this, she completed two years of fellowship at Emory University (Atlanta, USA) with the first year in neuro-ophthalmology followed by a second year in pediatric ophthalmology. She is currently an assistant professor at McGill University, and works as a pediatric ophthalmologist and neuro-ophthalmologist at the Montreal Children’s Hospital and as a neuro-ophthalmologist and adult strabismus specialist at the Centre Hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal.

Dr. Sabrina Poonja, University of Alberta
Dr. Sabrina Poonja was born and raised in Calgary, where she completed her degree in Health Sciences (Biomedicine) followed by medical school at the Cumming School of Medicine where she graduated in 2019. She moved north to Edmonton to complete her residency in neurology in 2024. After this, she completed a fellowship in Neuro-Ophthalmology at the Mayo Clinic, primarily based out of Rochester, Minnesota, with time also spent at the Mayo Clinic campus in Jacksonville, Florida and obtained her board certification as a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. In fall 2025, she returned to her alma mater to practice as a neurology-trained neuro-ophthalmologist in Edmonton where she is a Clinical Lecturer cross appointed in Neurology and Ophthalmology. She enjoys medical education and working with both neurology and ophthalmology learners. Her research and areas of interest include Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension as well as inflammatory optic neuropathies.
