8:00AM - 12:30PM
The Bayview Yards | 7 Bayview Station Rd
Course Description
This conference is designed to equip physicians with practical tools to advance equity, diversity, and inclusion in their clinical practice, teaching, research, leadership and daily lives. Our goal is to move beyond discussion and provide tangible strategies that physicians can apply in their day-to-day work to create more equitable care and more inclusive environments.
Take advantage of our low registration fees!
Many of the costs that would typically be passed on to participants have been covered by event sponsors at The Ottawa Hospital—including the Medical Staff Association, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Department of Surgery, the Department of Emergency Medicine, and the Department of Medicine—because they recognize the importance and impact of social medicine.
Conference Objectives
By the end of this conference, participants will be able to:
- Recognize how bias, discrimination, power and systemic inequities can affect healthcare workplaces and patient care.
- Identify and respond to discrimination in the clinical workplace using practical strategies for bystander intervention and allyship.
- Apply inclusive behaviors that strengthen relationships with colleagues, learners, staff and patients.
- Reflect on and modify their own assumptions, communication and professional behaviors to foster greater trust, belonging and equity in healthcare.
