By the end of this didactic session, participants will be able to: · Recognize how assumptions, stigma and language can influence trust, disclosure and the physician–patient relationship. · Describe how patients' identities and lived experiences—including experiences of discrimination within healthcare—can influence their interactions with physicians and the healthcare system. · Identify clinical behaviours and communication practices that can unintentionally create barriers to disclosure and care. · Apply practical strategies to create safer, more inclusive clinical encounters and strengthen patient trust.
