Manisha Bahl

Dr. Manisha Bahl, MD, MPH, FSBI, is an Associate Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School, a past Director of the Breast Imaging Fellowship Program at the Massachusetts General Hospital, and a Fellow of the Society of Breast Imaging. She is a graduate of Stanford University, the UC-San Francisco School of Medicine, and the Harvard School of Public Health. She completed residency and fellowship training at Duke University Medical Center and, most recently, completed the Professional Certificate in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Bahl is an NIH-funded investigator whose research interests include the application of artificial intelligence to improve outcomes in women with breast cancer and the clinical assessment of digital breast tomosynthesis. She has won numerous awards for her research, including the American Roentgen Ray Society President’s Award, has served on study sections for the National Institutes of Health and Department of Defense, is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Breast Imaging and Radiology: Artificial Intelligence, and is a podcast co-host for the journal Radiology. Dr. Bahl has lectured widely at national and international conferences on various topics in breast imaging. She is a recipient of the Radiological Society of North America William W. Olmsted Editorial Fellowship, the American College of Radiology E. Stephen Amis, Jr., MD, Fellowship in Quality and Safety, the American Association of Women in Radiology Lucy Frank Squire Distinguished Resident Award in Diagnostic Radiology, the American Medical Association Foundation Leadership Award, the Stanford University President’s Scholar Award, and the MGH Excellence in Resident Education Award.

Mary Beth Bissell

Dr. Mary Beth Bissell is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Ottawa. Her area of expertise is in Breast Imaging and Intervention. She completed her Diagnostic Imaging Residency training at Memorial University of Newfoundland followed by a Clinical Breast Imaging Fellowship at the University of Toronto. Dr. Bissell has a special interest in medical education and curriculum development, having won national recognition for teaching during her residency training. She is currently the co-director of the University of Ottawa Preparation for Call course, delivered annually to first year radiology residents across Canada. A clinician investigator at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, her research interests include breast cancer screening and intervention, breast MRI and medical education.

Jennie Dale

Jennie Dale is a patient advocate and the Executive Director of Dense Breasts Canada (DBC). She lives in Ontario. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2014. Jennie co-founded DBC with Michelle Di Tomaso in 2016 and has teamed up with breast cancer survivors nationwide to raise awareness of the risks of dense breasts. Together, they have successfully advocated for changes in density notification policies in Canada. The work continues until all Canadian women are informed of their breast density and the implications. Jennie, along with Canadian breast cancer screening experts, advocates federally for necessary revisions to the Canadian Task Force breast cancer screening guidelines. She recently completed a comparison of provincial breast cancer screening practices and is working with the DBC team to advocate for optimal screening for all Canadian women. In 2021, Jennie was named a top 5 finalist in Charity Village's awards in the category of Most Outstanding Impact by a Volunteer.

Vivianne Freitas

Dr. Vivianne Freitas, M.D is a graduate of the Radiology Residency Training Program at the Brazilian National Cancer Institute with a Fellowship Training Program at Joint Department of Medical Imaging, University of Toronto. Following the completion of her fellowship program, in 2012, Dr. Freitas was awarded with The Roberta Jong Award with the research project entitled “Potential Role of MRI in Assessing the Need for Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy in Patients Undergoing Contralateral Prophylactic Mastectomy”. In 2019 she received the Clinical Research Scholar Award by Harvard Medical School. Dr. Freitas obtained her Master in Health Science in Clinical Research from Dresden University, Germany in 2022. She currently has over 10 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact oncology and radiology journals, and has some active research grants at the national level. She is an Assistant Professor of University of Toronto, Head of Research of the Breast Division of Joint Department of Medical Imaging and staff of Princess Margaret Hospital, Sinai Health System, and Women’s College Hospital.

Sandeep Ghai

Dr. Sandeep Ghai is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Imaging at the University of Toronto and the Division Head Breast Imaging, Toronto Joint Department of Medical Imaging (University Health Network - Sinai Health System - Women’s College Hospital). She is dual fellowship trained in Women’s Imaging at the University of Toronto. Dr. Ghai worked as Consultant Radiologist at University Hospital of North Staffordshire, UK before joining the Toronto Joint Department of Medical Imaging. Dr. Ghai’s research involves newer Breast Imaging techniques, including Shear wave elastography and Contrast enhanced mammography.

Susan Jackman Cram

I am a clinical psychologist in private practice in the province of Alberta. Part of my practice has involved providing psychotherapy to patients coping with cancer diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and adjustment to life after cancer. My work has also involved helping patients to advocate for themselves as they navigate the health care system. My past personal experience with breast cancer is a valuable resource I rely on in working with patients.

Supriya Kulkarni

Dr. Supriya Kulkarni is the divisional head & associate professor, department of medical imaging at the University of Toronto.

Her clinical engagement is at University Health Network, Mount Sinai Hospital and the Women's College Hospital, University of Toronto, Canada for over 20 years in the subspecialty practice in Breast Imaging.

Dr. Kulkarni’s special focus is in teaching and education internationally and is a recipient of several teaching awards for contributing to cancer education.

She currently manages continuing professional development initiatives and faculty development for the breast division of the University of Toronto and national and international educational initiatives for Canadian Society of Breast imaging where she serves as a board member.

She serves in an advisory capacity pertaining to policy and quality for Ontario Health (OH) on provincial average and high risk screening programs and for the Canadian Association of Radiologists breast imaging guideline working group.

Dr. Kulkarni has worked to enhance diversity and opportunity to access breast screening for individuals from historically under-represented backgrounds, chairing the committee that developed the transgender screening policy with OH. She also provides mentorship and guidance to international trainees from varied backgrounds.

David Lim

Dr. David Lim is a clinical associate surgeon in the Department of Surgery at Women's College Hospital in Toronto, Ontario since September 2019. He is also Interim Medical Lead of the Henrietta Banting Breast Cantre at Women's College Hospital since October 2020. He has been completing a postdoctoral research fellowship at Women's College Research Institute (WCRI), studying surgical, oncologic and psychosocial outcomes in women with breast cancer. His postdoctoral research is supported by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR Fellowship) and funds from the Canadian Cancer Society Chair in Breast Cancer Research at WCRI. He is also the recipient of the 2021 Conquer Cancer Young Investigator Award from Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation, and the Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance.

Louise Miller

Louise Miller is the Founder and former Director of the Mammography Practicum at the School of Medicine, University of California, San Diego. Since 1985, Ms. Miller has served on numerous committees and as faculty for professional organizations such as the American College of Radiology, Society of Breast Imaging, American Society of Radiologic Technologists, as well as highly respected academic institutions worldwide. She was named as the Honorary Fellow for 2017 by the Society of Breast Imaging, a distinguished award that recognizes her outstanding dedication, commitment achievement and overall dedication to breast cancer detection. Ms. Miller is the author of two books on Mammography Positioning and Imaging Quality, in addition to numerous other articles and publications. She currently serves on the National Mammography Quality Advisory Committee for the FDA/MQSA. Shortly following this appointment Louise was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. Her diagnosis, treatment and recovery has provided her with an additional level of commitment, experience, knowledge and compassion as an educator. As the Director of Education for Mammography Educators, Ms. Miller continues to provide education and consultation on Mammography Quality Standards and Positioning throughout the United States and the World.

Derek Muradali

Dr. Derek Muradali is an Associate Professor of Medical Imaging at the University of Toronto. He completed his 9 year tenure as Radiologist in Chief of the Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) and was the previous Head of the Division of Breast Imaging, University of Toronto, for 20 years. He has authored multiple publications and book chapters on breast imaging and ultrasound, and has lectured extensively on those topics. His main areas of research include techniques involved in improving breast cancer staging, breast cancer screening and the effect of COVID-19 on breast cancer diagnosis.

Susan Peddle

Dr. Susan Peddle is a professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Ottawa. As part of the Breast Imaging team, she practices both clinical and interventional breast imaging. She strives to provide excellent clinical care through honest and thorough communication and consultation. She has a special interest in teaching and mentorship.

Sue Peters

Sue is a certified Clinical Audiologist, Organizational Change Professional and Lean Leader with 33 years of healthcare experience in both the public and private sector. She specializes in practice facilitation and building quality improvement capacity in both primary and specialty care teams across Canada. After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016 through routine screening, she has been an active patient partner sitting as Chair of the Health Quality of Council of Alberta (HQCA) Patient and Family Advisory Committee and patient advisor to the Alberta Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Advisory Committee, The Canadian Society of Breast Imaging and Mypathologyreport.ca.

Jean Seely

Dr. Jean Seely is Professor of Medicine in the Department of Radiology at the University of Ottawa. She is Head of the Breast Imaging Section at the Ottawa Hospital, Regional Breast Imaging Lead for the Ontario Breast Screening Program in Champlain region. She sits on the Executive board of CAR Mammography Accreditation Program and is Editorial Board member of the Canadian Association of Radiology and Breast Imaging Journals. Her commitment is to reduce the mortality and morbidity of breast cancer and provide high quality breast imaging nationally and internationally. She is President of the Canadian Society of Breast Imaging. Her research interests include Breast MRI, breast cancer screening, quality in breast imaging and patient experience. She has been recognized for her achievements by being awarded Fellow of the Society of Breast Imaging in 2017 and Fellow of the Canadian Association of Radiologists in 2021. She sits on the Medical Advisory Board of densebreast-info.com. In her spare time, she is cycling, hiking, skiing, or spending time with her family.

Christine Simmons

Dr. Christine Simmons is a Medical Oncologist at the BCCA Vancouver and Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of British Columbia. She completed her residency training in Toronto, and completed a fellowship at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto. She also completed a Master’s in Clinical Epidemiology at University of Toronto. She is the Program Director for the Medical Oncology Training Program at UBC. In addition to this leadership role, she is also the Chair of Sarcoma Tumour Group for BCCA. Her academic interests span both teaching and research, and she has held several leadership roles in the Undergraduate Medical Program at UBC in the areas of clinical skills and oncology education. Her research interests are in the areas of health services research in breast cancer and sarcoma. She recently founded the Sarcoma Outcomes Unit at the BC Cancer Agency and is current Chair of that organization. In 2011 she identified the need to coordinate and improve mentorship connections amongst oncology professionals, and subsequently founded the not-for-profit organization Women in Cancer. In 2014 she expanded the scope of Women in Cancer to a second organization, All in Cancer.

Lucy St John

Lucy St. John is committed to creating inclusive spaces in which a true community of seekers can explore, be vulnerable and grow with a compassionate foundation. She has now led more than 40+ Teacher Training Programs bringing a wealth of story and curiosity to the teachings. Lucy graduated with a Masters in Education in Contemplative Inquiry and Contemporary Approaches to Pedagogy in 2021. As the Program Director of 200 & 300 hour programs at the leading non-profit Yoga school in Canada, she has developed a curriculum that both honours the traditional lineage from which she learned and she integrates the current challenges in decolonizing yoga, trauma sensitivity and, innovative yoga anatomy. Nancy Wadden

Nancy Wadden is the Medical Director of the Breast Screening Program for Newfoundland and Labrador and Clinical Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Dr. Wadden is the chair of the Mammography Accreditation Program Staff Working Group, the chair of the Pan-Canadian Framework for Action to Address Abnormal Call Rates in Breast Cancer Screening (Canadian Partnership Against Cancer), the Director of Communications for the Canadian Society of Breast Imaging and a member of the Standards in Breast Imaging in Canada for the CAR. She continues to be involved with The Canadian Breast Cancer Screening Initiative and The Working Group of the Canadian Mammography Quality Standards. She serves on several other provincial and national committees dealing with Diagnostic Imaging, Breast Screening and Breast Cancer. Dr. Wadden has received several teaching excellence awards from The University of Toronto as well as Memorial University.
