1. Discuss the stroke-related impairments that heighten the vulnerability to falls.
2. Recognize appropriate fall screening instruments specific to stroke patients and assess the limitations associated with commonly used generalized screening tools.
3. Review types of interventions aimed to prevent falls and a phased approach for their integration into practice.
4. Review educational materials and resources tailored for falls prevention in stroke patients.

Biography
Dana Guest graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Scince in Physical therapy and is currently working as the Best Practice Physiotherapist for the Champlain Regional Stroke Network. She has worked extensively with the neurological populations in both acute care and inpatient rehabilitation with a particular interest in post stroke care. Prior to joining the Stroke Network Dana held various positions in both clinical and professional practice roles both in Ottawa and Toronto allowing her to further develop her mentoring, leadership and educational skills. Dana joined the Network in 2017 and has a keen interest in supporting clinician's in translating knowledge into practice to improve patient

Biography
Mary Haller is a retired physiotherapist who worked at The Ottawa Hospital (TOH) from 1990-2024. She worked in all acute care areas but found a passion for working in geriatrics. She was involved with the design and implementation of the Champlain Falls Assessment and Treatment Clinic (at TOH) and worked there was 2017-2022. She was a member of TOH’s Corporate Fall Reduction committee for over 20 years. She is currently the Chair of the Pedestrian Safety and Walkability Sub-committee of the Council on Aging working at falls prevention from a community and winter perspective. (volunteer role)
