Frequently asked questions
Research Incubator Day

IWK MHA is leading the first International CAPA Research Incubator Day to follow our CAPA Clinical Conference to bring together researchers, clinicians, those with lived experience, parent/caregivers, administrators, and policy makers to generate research ideas and develop international research teams.

We have prepared this FAQ as a way of sharing the purpose and expectations of the day and to answer some questions we anticipated might come up from you or when you are talking with your teams. Please reach out if there are any we missed.

Why hold a research incubator?
There are challenges in transforming complex health systems, as is often necessary for the implementation of CAPA. There is an important need for high quality, multi-site research to determine the effectiveness of CAPA on client and system outcomes, identify implementation challenges, and offer evidence-informed guidance for complex implementation.

What are the goals for the day?
To identify CAPA research priorities – What outcomes matter? To whom? What is the role of context in implementation?

To build a collaborative CAPA research community – How can we share resources? Disseminate findings? Ask the right research questions in the right way?

We hope to inspire those who join the day to continue to ask questions about what outcomes matter and how we can work to continue to improve our system of care to meet the needs of youth and families.

Who should attend?
We wish to hear from all perspectives – clinicians, researchers, administrators, policy makers, administrative staff.

What happens after the day?
We keep going! We want to discover new ways of identifying and working on research priorities together. The relationships developed on this incubator day will continue to grow and strengthen as we move the science of CAPA implementation forward and improve the outcomes for children and youth. By working together we can have a greater impact.
